Immunisations and Vaccinations

It can be daunting to take your baby to have their immunisations and vaccinations. The below tells you what will be given at each appointment. The most reliable links to read regarding the immunisations and vaccinations are linked below.

8 Week Vaccinations

During the 8 week vaccination, your baby will be given:

  • 6-in-1 vaccine

  • RV (rotavirus) vaccine

  • MenB vaccine

12 Week Vaccinations

During the 12 week vaccination, your baby will be given:

  • 6-in-1 vaccine – 2nd dose

  • PCV (pneumococcal) vaccine

  • RV (rotavirus) vaccine – 2nd dose

16 Week Vaccinations

During the 16 week vaccination, your baby will be given:

  • 6-in-1 vaccine – 3rd dose

  • MenB vaccine – 2nd dose

1 Year Vaccinations

During the 1 year vaccine, your baby will be given:

  • Hib/MenC vaccine given as a single jab containing vaccines against meningitis C (1st dose) and Hib (4th dose)

  • MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella), given as a single jab

  • PCV (pneumococcal) – 2nd dose

  • MenB vaccine – 3rd dose

It is recommended to give baby liquid paracetamol to your baby after the MenB vaccine MenB vaccine to reduce the risk of a high temperature. This vaccine is given at 8 weeks, 16 weeks and 1 year old. As with any medicine, please follow the correct instructions. If you have any questions please ask a pharmacist.
